Hi Everyone I have possibly found (I hope!) my great great grandfather's birth record, but need to tap into others' expertise to determine whether I'm on the right track. The record is for Menyhardt Toth, b. 15 July 1848 in Kecskemet. The father is unnamed, the mother's name is Rosalia Toth. Q1 - As the father's unnamed would it be reasonable to assume that the mother was unmarried at the time of the child's birth? Or could there be another reason? Q2 - There appears to be some sort of comment added to the record that I don't understand. Would someone be able to take a look at it to see if they can translate it? I think the first word means 'midwife' and after that all I can work out is a name. As always, any help is most appreciated. Maria; Your assumption is correct, unmarried mother. Midwife's name who assisted at the child birth. If you can send the record, Ican have look at it.
