    3. Hi Tim, I tried to send you some info, but it came back. I was posting to your e-mail. Have a look at Family Search , they have a 1905 NY census of the Kotsay family. It is Stephen age 44 a fireman in US 17 yrs & Katherine age 38, in US 16 yrs son Steve age 18 looks like a chauffeur ; John 16 born US ; Mike 9 ; Pete 9 = twins?? Margaret 4 & Alice 3 . Found on census page 23 ; Peekskill Village ; Caitlin co NY . Taken June 1, 1905 . I found this along with some other info just by putting in your surname .Here it is spelled Kotsey . Have a look @ http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#surname=kotsay&searchT ype=partial&placeId=22&givenName=stephen&alivePlaceLoc1=New%20York%2C%20Unit ed%20States&p=recordResults Okay the 1st & 2nd are yours . The third one is your gr dad visiting old country in 1898 . This leads you to the Ellis island site if you don't have a pass word you can make one & you will see the passenger list. on the passenger list , he is a fireman as well !! Did you know he went back for a visit? Note the spelling differences. Also it says he has his 1st papers.. this is something you want. My great grand parents Stephen and Katherine Kotsay immigrated in 1888 from Hungary to Tomhicken (near Hazelton) PA where Stephen found work in a coal mine. (Was he recruited in Hungary?) I'd appreciate your help of where I can obtain death certificates of several of their children who died there, as well as the name of the mine, and who to contact to find out about my great grandfather's employment. I am also interested in stories, books, etc of Hungarians who settled in PA to work the coal mines. Thus far, I have not found this information at ancestry.com, nor have I found records of their arrival at Castle Garden.
