    3. Nick, a suggestion - post a message after a month or two about this newsletter. There are always new people joining and some people never saw your last post. I have had the MAGYAR FAMILY website at www.myfamily.com for about 10 yrs now and the last time I made a post about the website I had the most who joined (about 35) Laszlo (Les) Josa -----Original Message----- From: hungary-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:hungary-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Nick M. I'll add everyone to the list that they mentioned. :) Joe: I will begin with an 'informal' newsletter. The success of this newsletter could lead into bigger and better things.. but that's the future. :) I think it should be a quarterly newsletter to begin, as well. Again, the success and peaked interest could lead it into more than a quarterly thing. Nick M. A 'formal' Hungarian Genealogy Society - on the other hand - is a completely different matter. Needs legal work (for incorporation), rules and regulations for members (and non-members alike), financing and financial responsibility requirements, officers with full and/or limited responsibilities, etc., etc. You are talking a serious investment here - not only time but money. An 'informal' newsletter, say about Hungarian Genealogy, can be much simpler, though the scope of the project (the old Kingdom of Hungary, as most of us would perceive it), requires a widespread knowledge of the regions, counties and local places and their populations, to be interesting for all. As long as you can get contributors to share their interest and research results, I would say it can be sustained. But if you have to depend on yourself mainly, it's a 'tall order'! ;-) And here let me tell you all about the 'Transylvania' project: two of us contributed from the USA; but the total came out to be about $2600, which they hope will provide for two cameras with all necessary supporting equipment as well. For 'our' contributions we can receive free CD's and DVD's of copies of records of places of our own choosing. I can not list all the places here whose records they have, but if anybody would be interested in certain places, E-mail me privately and I will let you know if they have it, and whether they will 'fit' into our free selection. I'm writing today for two reasons, and I'd love to hear your feedback. I apologize if this is the second time you're receiving this email (to those I emailed privately!). 1) I'm interested in creating a mailing list for my website (Hungary Exchange), to inform everyone possibly on a monthly base of updates that have been made to the website, including new information, surnames, databases, etc etc. If you're interested in this, please let me know and I'll put your name and email address down on my list. 2) This is the main reason I wanted to send this email out today. I'm debating on whether or not to create a Hungarian Genealogy Society. I know you're probably thinking.. isn't there one already? Yes and no. I've only been able to find two and they are the Hungarian Genealogical Society of Greater Cleveland and then the East European Genealogical Society. There is no definite society devoted strictly to Hungary, and just Hungary (unlike the East European Genealogical Society which is all of Eastern Europe). I'm very interested in a semi-monthly or quarterly newsletter and anything else that others have in mind. Share your ideas and I'd love to hear what everyone has to say. :) Best Regards,Nick M.
