    1. [HUNGARY] 55th Annual Hungarian Scout Festival!
    2. Joseph P. Bilcze
    3. 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of Hungarian scouting worldwide! Come celebrate with us at our 55th Annual Hungarian Scout Festival! If you appreciate Hungarian dining and music, mark your calendar for: Sunday, September 5, 2010 1 p.m. – 11 p.m. German Central Park 7863 York Road (near the intersection of Sprague Road) Parma, Ohio 44130 Listen to live music throughout the park as you enjoy the aroma of freshly prepared dishes, featuring our best recipes of “töltött káposzta” (stuffed cabbage), “chicken paprikás” with home made dumplings, “gulyás leves” (goulash soup), and “debreceni” (fresh Hungarian sausage). Are you hungry yet? Our outdoor kitchens also will be serving sizzling “laci pecsenye” (grilled pork steak) and “lángos” (elephant ears). The full day of festivities opens at noon, with Catholic and Protestant church services in Hungarian. All kitchens open at 1pm. Don’t forget to stop by for dessert at our Café Budapest, featuring scrumptious tortes, strudels, pastries, and espresso coffee! Then visit The Hungarian Village where you can observe and participate with local Hungarian artisans as they make their wares. The afternoon will be filled with a variety of activities for everyone, including games of skill from the old country and live animal presentations from the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center. There will be balloon animal fun for the kids. The traditional soccer matches between the local Hungarians and other ethnic soccer teams begins at 2 p.m. Hungarian crafts, souvenirs and novelty items will be available for purchase. Live music can be heard throughout the park by the various bands performing in the afternoon and evening. At 6 p.m. See our scouts and the Hungarian Scout Folk Dance Ensemble perform in traditional Hungarian folk costumes! In the evening, Café Budapest transforms into an exhilarating dance hall, from learning to csárdás to exhibitions of explosive traditional dance skills! Or go to the main hall and polka with your sweetie! Sponsored by the American Hungarian Friends of Scouting, proceeds benefit and support the activities of the nearly 300 Hungarian scouts in the Cleveland area. Most libraries now have online databases available to their patrons, including ones for genealogy including newspapers. I get Ancestry and Heritage Quest through it too. For free, thanks to my tax money.
