The Chronicle Telegram Elyria, Ohio Feb. 17, 1994 Joseph SAKAL, Former Elyria Elk Of The Year Joseph P. SAKAL, 82, of Elyria died Wednesday at EMH Regional Medical center after being ill for 10 months. Born in Lorain, he attended Lorain schools. He moved to Elyria 60 years ago. For 45 years, Mr. SAKAL worked at the No. 3 Seamless Mill at U.S. Steel Lorain Works, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Magyar United Church of Christ in Elyria. He also was a member of the Elyria Elks Lodge No. 465, where he was a former Elk of the year. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, cooking and gardening. Survivors: Wife: Helen (nee LENGEL/LENGYEL) wife of 61 years Sons: Edwin E. of Elyria and Joseph D. of Lorain Brother: Alex of Elyria Sister: Eleanor WHITAKER of Lorain He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph SAKAL and sisters, Elizabeth, Irene and Margaret. Dicken Funeral home, Elyria. Services Saturday at the Magyar United Church of Christ in Elyria. Rev. Wm. E. Feldt will officiate. Burial in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
