    1. KING Mary of Hungary

    3. The Fort Wayne News Feb. 6, 1897 All About Women Apropos of matters royal, I happened the other day upon a quaint little bit of information which was news to me, says an English writer, and will, I doubt not, be news many of my readers. Louis, King of Hungary, in the fifteenths century, died and left two daughters, of whom the elder, Mary, succeeded to the throne. But the people were of so warlike a disposition that, although they permitted a woman to occupy the throne, they refused to be governed by a feminine word. So the daughter of Louis was duly declared to be King Mary, and as King Mary she reigned until she was dethroned by Charles DURAZZO, who had previously dethroned and murdered Joan of Naples. 3. Carol asks: Where is Bukk Zsercz located in Hungary. Years ago my mother said that her mother-in-law Rebecca KIRALY told her they were from a small village outside Budapest, Hungary. The small village, today spelled Bukkzserc, is in the Megye (Megye in English is county) called Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen. It is small village in the foothills of the Bukk National Park, about a two and a half hours drive east of Budapest, close to the city Eger. The area is full of vineyards, health spas and quite a tourist destination. Current road map showing Bukkzserc can be found on the following site: Click on the letter "B", then scroll down to Bukkzserc. http://lazarus.elte.hu/moterkep/mb.htm For almost everything you want to know about Hungary, see the following http://www.rootsweb.com/~wghungar/index.html Mary Nagy

    3. Ellis Island has a record for surname spelled KIROLY Rebecca, 25, and son Sandor, age 3, arriving Oct. 14, 1907. They came from Bukk Zsercz, Borsod Megye, and went to husband and father KIROLY Sandor in Roderfield, W Va. With them was POCZIK Karoly, age 16, going to his brother Lajos Poczik, same place. They were born in Zsercz (called Bukkzserc today). Mary Nagy :-))

    3. The Columbus (Ohio) Metropolitan Library has copies of obituaries published in the Columbus Dispatch. A search on the name KIRALY shows the following obituaries: Rebecca Kiraly published April 2, 1940 Alex published Aug. 13, 1963 Helen Louise published Nov. 30, 1965 Joseph published Feb. 8, 1985 William published Aug.7, 1987 Go to the follwing site. You can do a search and it tells how to order copies. Perhaps information on Karl/Carl KIRALY is in one of the obituaries. http://www.columbuslibrary.org/cmlcnix/searchobitform.cfm Good luck! :-)) Mary Nagy ----- Original Message ----- From: <cegphx@cox.net> To: <HUNGARY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 22, 2005 3:54 AM Subject: [HUNGARY-L] Alex KIRALY I'm looking for information regarding my grandparents, Alex KIRALY and wife Rebecca ///. At one point while still living my mother Lucile KIRALY she thought Grandma Kiraly's maiden name was, TOTH. However, up to this point in time I don't think this is correct. Their names are on the Wall of Honor at Ellis Island. Alex and Rebecca had three sons, I believe... William, Karl (Carl) and Steve. My grandparents lived on Market Street in Columbus, Ohio. I lived with them when I was a baby. My parents, Lucile Kershner and Karl/Carl KIRALY were divorced. I've lost track of my KIRALY family. My parents are both deceased and I'm trying to find my paternal lineage for the sake of my own children and grandchildren Respectfully, Carol in Phoenix

    3. Carol, Your first message asked help about your father if I remember right. You mentioned he died in the 1980"s in California because that is what your mom told you. I would like you to give these possibilities some thought, perhaps he changed his name to King, that is what Kiraly translates to. Also, he might have had another family somewhere, and not necessarily in California. Don't give up and don't take everything you have been told as gospel.
