    3. Thanks to everyone who gave me info....when I find out for sure I will let you all know! Hi All! I was wondering if anyone knows how/where to purchase microfilm. We have a LDS FHL that is only open one Sat. per month, but the local public library has several readers that are accessible 6 days a week. Since I know where my family came from I could purchase the film and use it at the public library. I would greatly appreciate the help! Tina (Fuzi) Southwick southwick@voyager.net

    3. Dear Helen, Although Mathias himself was not listed in One World Tree, a Stephen Trukosits, born 1849, was listed as a son of Jakob Trukositz and Eva Kiegler, born Lébény, Moson megye, Hungary, married "Anges" (probably Agnes) Kroneis, and died Westlake, Idaho, in 1933. His son, Steven, was born 1874 in Lebeny, married Theresa Natz 1904 in Howard SD, and died 1947 in Lewiston, Idaho. It looks like Mathias and Stephen were brothers. Their Hungarian names would have been Matyas and István. I couldn't find their immigration records either, but LDS has the Roman Catholic church records (births, marriages, and deaths to 1895) for Lebeny, Hungary, where you should be able to find all of these Trukositzes. Go to the Family History Library Catalog at www.familysearch.org <http://www.familysearch.org/> and enter Lebeny under Place Search to find the microfilm numbers. Lébény is now in Győr-Moson-Sopron megye, between Győr and Vienna, but only about 10 miles west of Győr. Good luck in your searching, Janet -----Original Message----- From: Jack and Helen Trukositz [mailto:trukositz@comcast.net] Sent: Sunday, October 16, 2005 4:49 AM To: HUNGARY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HUNGARY-L] Trukositz from Lebeny Hello to all, I am working on my husbands family. According to the 1900 Oregon census, they came over in 1881. Mathias Trukositz b. 31 Aug 1856 in Hungary Anna (maiden name Weiss) Trukositz b. 10 Jul 1852 in Hungary sons- Frank b. Nov 1879 -Joseph b. Feb 1881 I believe that Mathius's parents were Jacob Trukositz and Eva Kiegler. I was sent a picture of the Roman Catholic Church in Lebany where Mathius probably was baptized and attended. Maybe even got married. I haven't been able to find any immigration information for them. How would I get records from that church and find out when and from where they immigrated? Would like to find marriage records and birth records for them also. Any help would be great. We live in Sweet Home, Linn County,Oregon. If I can lookup something in Linn or Marion counties, please ask. Thanks Helen Trukositz

    1. Purchasing microfilms
    2. MTB
    3. All of my villages were in Hungary until the treaty of Trianon in 1920. I have purchased many microfilms directly from the Hungarian archives in Budapest. The microfilms I purchased were prepared in two weeks' time and mailed here to the states in another 2 months. Their cost varied, according to the number of meters (39 inches per meter) per roll. The average cost was about $18.00 a roll. At the time, credit cards were not accepted by the Archives, so I paid my bank $35 to make the money transfer. Totally worth it. You can handle the situation by email with the English version of Hungarian Archives' web site: http://www.natarch.hu/mol_e.htm Also, LDS will sell microfilms to university or local libraries, so you could ask your local public library to get LDS films for you. For instance, I made my case to my university library for the purchase of a dozen microfilms, and the library did purchase them. Good luck. Maureen Tighe-Brown

    3. Although the LDS microfilmed the church records in the Hungarian Archives in Budapest they do not have ownership for them. Therefore, they can not sell them to anyone and they can only lend them through authorized Family History Centers (over 4000 throughout the world). There are a very few large genealogy libraries that have become authorized FHCs but that is not the norm. However when they did the microfilming they gave copies of all the records to the Hungarian Archives who do have ownership. As I understand it, you may purchase copies of the microfilm from Hungary at the following address: Magyar Országos Levéltar 1014 BUDAPEST I., Bécsikapu tér 2-4 Postacim: 1250 Budapest, 1. Pf. 3. Hungary The last I heard the microfilms cost $40 each. Of course, you will run into additional costs for banking fees, etc. I have never ordered any because I am within a half mile of my FHC and as a volunteer I can access the center both during and after hours. They do all the ordering at $3.50 each and all the storage. 3. YES, but they did their microfilms at the National Archives in Budapest. So, you can buy all the LDS microfilms directly from Hungary. 2. Possibly some arrangement can be worked out between LDS and the public library. I know I have seen LDS films at the Allen Public Libraray in Ft Wane IN. I don't know how it is done, but it might be worth checking into. Evelyn

    3. Tina, I know that once you order the lds films and if you renew the rental 3 times, they will keep the microfilms in that library. I printed out the records.......and found that it was much easier to connect names, addresses, marriges etc. It can be a bit spendy.....but well worth it. I think it works better for me as opposed to having a genealogist do it.......you get more info. cheryl ----- Original Message ----- From: Scott & Tina Southwick To: HUNGARY-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, October 13, 2005 12:47 PM Subject: [HUNGARY-L] microfilm Hi All! 3. Hi all, just received a url for a few gazetteers of Hungary where you can search alphabetically: http://konyvtar.ksh.hu/ Sorry to say the English version of the page does not take you there! :-( On the Hungarian version click on E-könyvek, then Helységnévtárak. On the new page select the year of interest and/or search for a place. So far - due to the great interest in places - only the listing of place names has been digitized. There is no additional information available for them, except for the 2003 list. Joe Equinunk, PA - USA jjarfas@ezaccess.net --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by ezaccess.net]

    3. Several listers have asked me about the book and how to purchase it. You can order it directly from the author by going to his webpage. http://www.chrisbacher.net/~ernest/book.html The book is quite informative and for someone like myself whose families seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth it not only answers some questions but creates many more. I am interested in finding lists of people deported from Pula and Band. The book gives statistics and village names but not people or how to get such a list. Unfortunately for me, many if not all of the sources of the data are written in the Hungarian or German language. The book is great though...informative and easy to read. Nope, I do not get a commission <grin> Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net
