Hi Carol, Years ago, when I was really digging and trying to solve some family mysteries, I remember coming across some of the Huling family that went to CA for the gold rush. They may or may not be connected to Harris. I'm not sure if you've seen Jon Van Winkle's response to your email, forward to all from Doug Huling, so I will cut and paste it below. Good luck and best wishes, Paul This also came to me from Jon Van Winkle. I'll fwd to Carol when she contacts me. FYI I think I have identified 5 separate HULING trees in the US. ============= Harrison Huling(s) is definitely of the Swedish line and had brothers, as your inquirer states, Ercurious, William, Joseph, and Samuel. Harrison was born ca 1806 and died post 1862. He married Lucretia (Edwards) Pate and had (at least) seven children His parents were William and Rebecca (Van Dyke). I have a great deal more if you will put me in contact with him/her/it. ============== -----Original Message----- From: Carol Tolley via <huling@rootsweb.com> To: huling <huling@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sat, Aug 9, 2014 10:02 am Subject: Re: [HULING] HULING Digest, Vol 9, Issue 5 Thanks Paul. I will check out Marcus in NJ and see what I can find. But, I am most interested in what happened to Harrison Huling. His brothers were already in California, where he was headed. Farmed his children out to others. Luckily, most went with his step daughter Lorinda Pate Patterson and her husband, Charles, my gr gr grandparents. Just wonder if he ever made it. Have found no trace of him. Maybe some more of the Huling clan from New Jersey made it to California and I can look for them to find a hint. Thanks again.
