    3. Woops. You lost a generation. Capt. Alex & Elizabeth (WIGHTMAN)'s son, Alexander is the husband of Sarah FREEBORN. Capt Alex d. 1725. Alex, Jr. m(1) to Elizabeth SPINK bef 2 July 1728. She died sometime after Martha, her tenth child was born in 1749. Alex, Jr. m(2) to Sarah FREEBORN at Newport, RI on 14 May 1761. Alex, Jr. died bef. 8 June 1772. Apparently there were no kids born to Sarah & Alex, Jr. The above info comes from the book "Huling Genealogy-Descendants of James & Margaret Huling of Newport, RI & Lewes, DE" by Esther Woodworth-Barnes. If you'd like, contact me off line & I can scan her page in the book that has a bit more info. 3. Hi All, When I just read Jon's note it occured to me that he has made a request I should do for my efforts to compile information for my HULING/HULIN tree. Anyone that is a descendant of James & Margaret Huling of Newport, RI and Lewes, DE is invited to help in putting together the 4th addenda to Esther Woodworth-Barnes book. A significant amount of information has been collected since Add. 3 was published in Dec. 1999, but more is always appreciated. If you are a descendant in this tree, please contact me and I will provide you with information that I have so that you can update, correct and/or add your branch to the Add. 4 file. Hope to hear from you soon. -- Don Huling <dhuling@gte.net> ph. (253) 631-5406 12320 SE 235th St. Kent, WA USA 98031-3625

I am descended from Andrew Huling, son of Marcus and brother to your Mouns. I have read that Mouns had a daughter Sarah. Do you know anything about her? For years, I have been trying to locate the wife of James Huling, who was the son on Andrew and therefore the nephew of Mouns. His first wife was named Sarah; that I do know from a deed in VA with husband James. Her maiden name remains a mystery. I am grasping at straws, but knowing how marriage to a first cousin was not at all unusual, I thought I would try to find out what happened to her. James Huling was born in PA but moved with his parents to Rockingham County, VA, and then to Georgia. I think I can fill in the direct blanks from the beginnings in America to the present except for 1st wife Sarah (I cannot do it collaterally; just my line of descent). Thank you so much for any information you might have. Of course, it goes without saying, that if I have anything that you would like I would be happy to share. Katharine Clark

Marcus married Margaret JONES daughter of Mounce JONES and Ingabor YOKUM. Marcus married (2) Brigitta DANIELSSON . Marcus married (3) ? . * Appendix A - Notes 2. Marcus LAWRENCE a Swedish immigrant; immigrated to the Dutch-controlled Delaware River Valley, prob. abt 1654. Was probably married three times. His 1st wife was mother of his children. Died at his "Putshack" plantation on south side of Pennsauken Creek, Gloucester Co., NJ. First record of his presence in Delaware River Valley was the 50 gilder fine levied against "Marcus Laurson" for his involvement in the 1669 "Long Finn Rebellion." Not a head of household in the 1671 English census of the Delaware. As "Marcus Lourense the Holsteynder," living at Verdrietige Hook, was fined in 1675 for his refusal to work on dikes ordered by New Castle Court. In 1676 owned 700 acres at the Bouhgt above Verdrietige Hook (west shore of Delaware River in upper New Castle County) with Olof Fransson and Nils Nillsson. On 1677 tax list at this location as "Markus Lourens." Move abt 1682 to Pennsauken Greek in Gloucester County. 2S. ? According to the 1697 church census (PMHB 2:225) she was a sister of Mrs. Nils Jestenberg, whose family was then raising her son Marcus Hulings. 2S. Brigitta DANIELSSON had a child of her own only 2S. ? Third wife of Marcus Hulings; she was a widow in New Jersey when he married her. 3. Lawrence(Loretz) HOLLINGZ His father was not referred to with the surname Hulings, except once after his death. Thus, this Lawrence HULINGS, was incorrectly supposed to be the founder of the Huling lineage in America. Lawrence was probably born at the Bought near Verdrietige Hook, New Castle County. After death of his father, carried on father's farm at Putshack, Waterford township, Gloucester County. He was of age in 1693. Died between 21 Aug 1700 (date of will) and 1 March 1701 (when will was proved); survived by wife and two sons. His descendants frequently appear with an "o" in the last name in New Jersey records, e.g. Hollingz (an exception is his son Michael Huling). 4. Regina HULINGS In 1697 a maidservant next door, in the household of Nils Jestenberg's brother Eric. She had her husband and family lived in the Philadelphia area, at first west (Blockley township) and later east of the Schuylkill. On part of the latter tract, in the Fairmount Park area, the famous reservoir was built; thus its neighborhood appears in several early nineteenth centruy views of that landmark. The Garratson family Bible was in the possession of Samuel Garrett, a descendant of Regina's son Marcus, as late as December 1919, when its data were published in " Germantown: Journal of the Site and Relic Society", No. 10, 2. 5. Marcus HULING Age 13 in 1697. Lived in Berks Co., PA Info on descendants in file. See PAF notes on father-in-law, Mouns Jones, for further info.
