And of course the English census. The name ROY in England was not necessarily derived from French orgins, Scotland is also a source. However in this situation it would be safe to assume that the name ROY is of French origin due to the prenoms of Marie Louise and Francis (Francoise) Another suggested potential source may be the Huguenot Society in London, or if you could locate local church records dating back to Huguenot times in Hampshire ?
