You might be interested in the following information from a Fench site on the origin of surnames [poorly translated from the French by me]: The Delaune[s] are numerous in Normandy [76] and in the Centre[36] The name designates someone who lives in a place called "The Aulne" [l'Aulne] or who comes from there.
