Hi Judy A few more details would be useful but, as a rule of thumb, you can discount anybody being Huguenot prior to 1540 (ish) which was when Calvin's work first started to have a major effect in France. If the family went to France from Germany between 1517 and 1540 (ish) they may have been Lutheran, the first Protestante/Reformee church, rather than a Calvinist/Huguenot. Need more dates plus a location in France to be of more assistance. Regards Tony Fuller
