    1. [HWE] FRANCISCO > Thorpe-le-Soken, Essex, ENG Look-up
    2. Chris Leonard
    3. my ancestor, Henry FRANCISCO, who lived to be 134, told a professor who interviewed him in 1819 that he was from ESSEX. he was definitely a huguenot whose father had fled france once to marry in amsterdam. when henry was a small child (he was born in 1685), under 5 probably, his father fled again, first to holland, then england, then the US. since there is no place in france named essex i thought perhaps henry was referring to Essex Co. NJ where his father settled. but he might have meant england, so i thought it was worth checking. Henry's father's name has been given variously as John FRANCIS, John FRANSOY, and John FRANCISCO. in the original french it was probably JEAN FRANCOIS, and if he had spent time in holland it could also be JAN. i have also seen it FRANCISKUS, VAN SISCO, VAN CISCO, SISCO, etc. thank you! -- Rise like Lions after slumber In unvanquishable number — Percy Bysshe Shelley, The Call to Freedom ---------- >From: "Andrea Vogel" <andreav@island.net> >To: HUGUENOTS-WALLOONS-EUROPE-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [HWE] Thorpe-le-Soken, Essex, ENG > Offer to Look Up >Date: Sat, Aug 5, 2000, 12:03 PM > > Hi, all of you on HWE list, > This post is to let you know that I am also willing to look up surnames > in the church records for Thorpe-le-Soken, Essex, ENG upon request.
