Fellow listers -- This post is to let you know that I am willing to look up surnames in the church records for Portarlington, IRL upon request. These are on LDS film # 0962137, also Vol. 19 of the Quarto series published by the Hug. Soc. of London. However, I am asking that certain conditions be followed with these requests. These are the same ones I have asked for when I did previous look-ups. The conditions are as follows -- a) The request for look-up * must be* posted to the list and not sent to me privately. b) Requests for look-up **must have** a subject line like this (to alert me to the fact that you are requesting the look-up) -- SURNAME > Portarlington, IRL Look-up c) Your request post must contain some *details* about your surname and the reasons for thinking they might be at Portarlington or at least in Ireland. I am asking that this procedure be followed because, in this way, everyone will be sharing their information yet, at the same time, making it clear that the post is a look-up request. In return, I will post everything I find to the list. It will not be sent to individuals privately. In this way, there will be more sharing of information back to the list -- and sharing is the best way for a list to thrive. Also, please understand that I will complete this work as quickly as I can but my local FHC has cut back to summer hours so it is open only part of one day a week (Tuesdays). Also, I am just one person and records are often quite time consuming to record by hand. And there are often quite a few spelling variants to record. So, all I can promise is that the work will be done as time permits. Requests, anyone? Andrea
