Fellow listers -- These surname extracts from the BT's of Canterbury St. Margaret have been posted in two parts, because they are quite lengthy. What follows is Part 1 (up to 1750), with Part 2 (1751-1812) also posted today, with same subject line. This particular parish was searched 1662/3 to 1812. I started earlier than St. George's simply because the handwriting was manageable from that date. However, it's still tough going in the early time periods because some letters look nothing like the ones we write today. I will repeat what I said in the post re: extracts from St. George, ie. I am not saying that *all* these surnames were *definitely* Huguenot -- I know that some are but others *might be*. Notice that some of the same names occur both here and in St. George's. As with St. George, I also found surnames FEDARB, OLIVE, POUT, FREMOULT (FREMAULT) and TEVELIN here. All have connections to my own ancestry and I will post them at some future time. I also repeat my previous caution: anyone interested in this parish or any of these names, please check the original records themselves to verify. Hope this is helpful to somebody. If so, please post.
