    1. [HWE] BUGLASS - BOOKLESS
    2. Having hovered in the background fro a few weeks to pick up the ethos of this list I now venture to ask my questions. My wife's family name is BUGLASS and they come from Berwickshire in the Borders. The name is often spelt BOOKLESS and you can see where the two spellings come from when you listen to Scottish border dialect - either could transcribe what you hear. We have traced the family to 1690 (maybe 1660 if you are prepared to take a few risks) and always assumed that it was a Scottish border name. But the other day we were assured that the name was Hugeunot. Since then I have been reading the hsitory of the Hugeunots and noticing the names but there seems to be none that could have been converted into BUGLASS. My questions are: 1. What connections do the Hugeunots have with the Scottish border country ? 2. Has anyone come across the BUGLASS family as a Huguenot family ? Thanks Cyril
