    3. Listers -- In his post yesterday (29 Oct), there was a question from Roy <royday@dial.pipex.com> re: my earlier message about proposed submissions of US/CAN surnames if place of origin is unknown. Roy said -- >.................. how they can be considered Huguenots if their place of birth together with their religion is still to be established?> Thanks to Roy for raising this valid question. It was a case of sloppy wording in my original post. And thanks also to comments from Clive <Clive.Bates@btinternet.com> on this subject. He said exactly what I was planning to say in reply, except he said it faster (but then, he's 18 hours ahead of me there in Australia <g>). Of course, such a list would have a statement attached to it which said something like this -- that the following surnames were *believed to be* of Huguenot origin but any proof of such a connection had not yet been established. It may be a moot point, though, because I have not received a single response so far to my suggestion of US/CAN names. (If you have any such names, please contact me off-list!) A last comment and that is about the "main" surnames list as I posted yesterday. On the website, it will not be headed Huguenot & Walloon Surnames or similiar. The heading will be H-W-E Surnames List (ie. meaning: surnames submitted by list subscribers). And I believe this list should also have a disclaimer of some type attached to it to the effect that appearance of any name on the list does not prove a H/W connection, that such connections vary with individual researchers and surnames. Anyone want to work on the wording for this?? Volunteers?? <g> Hope this clears things up. Andrea
