Eg. it includes some records from Mannheim. Also, just to see if I've found the right microfilms, do the LDS film nos for this collection run from 0,199,755 thru 0,199,952? (I have not yet used this collection.) Regards, Howard hswain@ix.netcom.com
Howard is quite right in stating that the Leiden Collection contains wide ranging information. The original is described as a card index of Huguenots in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and elsewhere. The fact that it takes 199 reels of LDS film would indicate that it is a very large collection. Dear Listers, I was recently at the Leiden Municipal Archives, home of the "Leiden Collection." There is tons of information there. Lots of the original documents at those archives have been meticulously indexed on card files and in books. I suppose the 199 reels of LDS film have most, if not all, of those indexes (but not the original records themselves). I really thought the indexes for the city death records were interesting. Those indexes are in books, not on cards. I suppose the LDS filmed them, but I don't know. They are also very generous with letting people use the original records. I was able to look through the 1663 gravebook for the Pieterskerk (Pieters Church). It's in practically mint condition. I'm not sure how they keep the records in such great shape. Anyway, I posted some information about the Leiden Municipal Archives and the results of my research (on Bodines) at my Bodine site. The address, telephone, and email addresses are there. I also have pictures of the Pieterskerk (where the pilgrims once worshipped) and Hooglandskerk (churches) in Leiden. If you're interested, take a look at the following url: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bodine/leiden00.htm Best regards, Dave Bodine -- Dave@MediterraneanAccents.com Roy Day wrote: > Howard is quite right in stating that the Leiden Collection contains wide > ranging information.
