Hello -- I'd like to add some comments to info re: the Leiden collection, mentioned by Howard < hswain@ix.netcom.com > (24 Oct) and by Roy <royday@dial.pipex.com > (22 Oct and today, 25 Oct) . This is a vast amount of info, which includes several countries, as pointed out by Roy. The LDS has actually filmed two collections of card indexes, but I'm not sure of the difference between the two. Perhaps another lister can let us know about this. 1) Leiden Collection: Huguenots in the Netherlands, France, Germany, etc.,1500 -1828. Originals at the Walloon Library in Leiden. They are on films arranged alphabetically according to surnames and numbered from 0199755 (AB-ALE) to 0199953 (WITA-Z). 2) Mirandolle Collection: Huguenots in the Netherlands, France, Germany etc.,1644 -1858. Originals at the Walloon Library in Leiden. Again, arranged alphabetically according to surnames and films are numbered from 0199963 (AA-BARSE) to 0199983 (VOORBURG-ZIEGLER). I have heard the Mirandolle collection described as "not as helpful" as the Leiden collection but I don't know why. To find a complete listing of these collections, go to the LDS site at www.familysearch.org. Click on Family History Library System (right side of screen), then on Family History Library Catalog, then on either of these two choices -- 1) Place Search. Type in Leiden and a full listing of records held for this location will come up, under various sub-headings. I believe the card indexes can be found under Church Records --Indexes. There will also be cross-reference to other relevent listings. 2) Film/Fiche Search -- type in any of the film numbers for this collection and a listing of the film contents will appear. This will cross reference you to other listings as well. Has anyone researched in these sources and gotten any results? Like Howard, I am unfamiliar with these records myself. Andrea
