Andrea: THANKS! Would be interested in address of DALLY-DALLEY-DALLI etc in England: Cornwall, Sussex, Gloucestershire & Wiltshire. Tom Dally In James Riker book on Harlem (NYC), there is a footnote on p.29 about the word WALLOON: "...derived from the word GAUL, which the Germans by an etymological substitution of W for the Latin G, changed to WAHL, and in the plural WAHLEN. The Low Dutch making it, WAAL and WAALEN. The German and Dutch, in speaking of the WALLOONS, more commonly use the adjective form, saying the WALSCHE. [This was pub. in 1881 so it may not be true now.] The French use WALLOON. Written Walloon is called OUALLON." (p.29)
