Hello, list -- On 31 Aug, Clive <Clive.Bates@btinternet.com> posted about several surnames he is interested in. Among them were TEVELIN (& variants), OLIVE and BLANCHARD. If these names sounded a bit familiar to some of you, it's because I've posted a bit about them myself in the past. It turns out that Clive and I, who have been in contact with each other for only a couple of months, are (very very) distant cousins. I'm hoping the following information, some of which is pre-1600, will send Clive "over the moon" by providing connections to his own TEVELIN family. It might also be of interest to a couple of other TEVELIN researchers who've just joined our list. The following extracts are from the records of the Walloon Church at Canterbury. These are in Volume 5 of the Quarto series (pub. Huguenot Soc. of Ldn), and are also on LDS films & 0086956 & 0086957. I'm sorry that the information is incomplete -- I did this research in the summer of 1999, under tight time constraints, and the film was returned to Salt Lake before I could finish. Because I was in a rush, I also picked the shorter entries to transcribe, leaving the longer more detailed ones for "another time". Still, quite a few other names and details are mentioned so maybe someone else on the list will find an unexpected connection or clue.
