Hi, Andrea and fellow Listers. I am enquiring about the name Ebzery or D'Ebzery. Irish genealogists all say the name is PROBABLY of Huguenot origin but no one can find the necessary "proof". The earliest documentation I have that first mentions: John Ebzery. Jane Richards 10.02.1657 Londonerry Templemore Derry Cathedral 11.2.1977 m 7000431 - 0365 (Although I have no idea what this end date and numbers mean. This entry comes from a long list of Ebzery records from the eighteenth and nineteenth century which someone in the family obviously has colated) The two other earliest dates are : Ebzery, Mary Phillip 21.05.1658 Londonerry Templemore Derry Cathedral 18.6.1875 L.g. 2.9.1975 L.g 2.10 1975 c 700431 - 1055 Then:: Ebzery Phillip Mary Osburne 17 02 1656 Londonerry Templemore Derry cathedral 17.2.1977 SL m 700 431 -0317 Perhaps some other searchers may have come across some clues that can confirm the family oral history of the Ebzerys having been Huguenots. Even an explanation of the end dates and numbers would be appreciated. i have never been to Londonerry and wonder if the records there might prove enlightening. I hope is the way to post a listing, Andrea, as I have deleted the original information posted to me. regards, Kath Hastings, Australia.
