Normandie is a province, or region, not a Departement. The old provinces like Normandie are divided up into departements, and there are several departements each in Haute and Basse (upper and lower) Normandie. Caen and Bayeux are in the Departement of Calvados, Departement 14, in Basse Normandie. The answer given on the list (as below) could also be wrong. The list should be for inquiries about other listers' specialized knowledge, not a free look-up for basic references. The web is the greatest research tool in the history of civilization--if you're 'online' but don't know how to use it to search, you are seriously shorting yourself, and if you have any aspirations to being a real genealogist, should either buy a book or take a class on using the web as a reference tool.
