Ref Marcia Ryan inquiry re Vaden of New Kent Co. Va. This is what little I know of the origin of my Vaden/Vaiden line can be found in The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Vol 28, page 470, and Vol 39, pages 177 and 300 when the name appeared in New England approx. the same time it appeared in Va. Vol 29 mentions a Moses Vouden formerly of the Isle of Jersey as living in Salem, Mass, and his two daughters, born in 1677 and 1679. A John and Collete, formerly of "ye Island of Jersey" are also mentioned in Salem in 1717. Jersey is one of the Channel Islands, apparently people by that name are still there. Also spellings of Vauldin/deVauldyn /Vouden. I do know my Vaden line was French Huguenot, I have been told they can be found in the records of the Huguenot Church Threadneedle Street in London, but have not had a chance to research that yet. I know this is not much but hope it helps. Barbara Taylor bher@prodigy.net
