    1. [HWE] Huguenot families I am researching
    2. The Curran's
    3. These are the huguenot ancestors I am working on. Jacques COSSART b-1595 and wife Rachael GELTON of Liege, now in Belgium, removed to Amsterdam later Leyden Holland. Birth records of their daughter show that they were living in Leyden in 1632. Their son Jacques COSSART was born 1639 in Leyden and was married 14 Aug. 1656 Walloon Church Frankenthal, Germany to Lydia WILLEMS (Lea VILLMAN) I am not sure which spelling is correct. Louis Du BOIS bapt: 21 Oct. 1626 at Lille, Parish Church of Wicres, France. Suppose to be son of Chaetien Maxmillian Des FIENNES. Louis Du BOIS married 10 Oct. 1655 French Protestant Church at Mannheim, in the Pfalz, German Palatinate, Catherine BLANCHAN, daughter of Matthys BLANCHAN & Madeleine Brissen JORISSE. Their daughter Sara Du BOIS married Jooste Jan Van METERAN b-Gelderland, Holland 1656. I am not certain if the METERAN's were Huguenots or not Matthew BLANCHAN was a man of some note in his native town of Nouvelle Le Conte before being compelled to flee to Manheim. He was a distiller by occupation. Matthew BLANCHAN and his wife Madeleine Brissen JORISSE were originally from the village of Nouville Le Comte in the Province of Artois. They sojourned in the Mannheim Colony for a few years with their daughters, Madeleine and Elizabeth and a son Mathieu who had been born there. The antecedents of Matthew BLANCHAN are deduced from the record of a marriage contract dated 12 Apr 1649, recorded at the Walloon or Strangers' Church of Canterbury England, between: "Anthoin BLANCHAMP, son of the late Leonin, and the late Isabeau LeROY, his father and mother, assisted by Mathieu BLANCHAM, his brother; and Martinne VALQUE, daughter of Jacques, assisted Jaque VALQUE (VALKE), her brother, and Mathieu MARHEIM." (Ref: Huguenot Society of London, Collections Vol. 5 part 3, page 725) Pierre NOE b-early 1600's, Walslant, France and came on the Spotted Cow from Holland in 1663. Married Margaret DUMONT 1659 at London. Margaret DUMONT born France. This is the extent of what I have on these Huguenots who are my ancestors. The Magna Charta Barrons' and other Royal Lineages compiled by Dorothy A.S.Lainson takes the Louis Du BOIS antecedents back quite a few more generations. I would be interested in learning more about the antecedents of the other Huguenots in my ancestral line. Patricia Curran - Chambersburg, PA
