Hi Lillian. The Bibliotheque Genealogique in Paris can be contacted by e-mail at bibgen@wanadoo.fr . As I said you will need to correspond in French, I suspect your high school learning plus a good dictionary will be suffice. It might be a worthwhile to see if there is anybody on the list who could translate a standard search letter, leaving only the details blank which could be the basis of another section on our web site. This would obviously be a matter for Andrea to consider and decide if worth pursuing. Having provided bibgen with what information you possess concerning the name they will then conduct a search, at this stage at no cost to you. The fact that the name you are searching appears several times in their index would indicate it will be a positive result and will cover at least three generations. The name is not indexed if they have records for less than three generations. You will be given an outline of their findings and if you request that information you will be charged a search fee of FF60 plus the cost of any photocopying. You can request up to three names for the search fee but these need to be requested at the same time. I have found it to be a very satisfactory service at a relatively low cost. The index, which I have is a CD and cost about FF200 from the same source. Whilst it has a lot of information the search facilities are to say the least crude and to print out from the disc will test your computer skills. Having said that I have found it very useful. I will have to take you up on your offer for information on how to contact the Bibliotheque Genealogiqui, however. Is it necessary to be fluent in French? I'm limited to high school French many, many, many, years ago. I do appreciate your reply! Lillian
