Hello everybody, I´m a german BILLET probably descend from the first Huguenot wave who fleet from somewhere in France to Swizerland, Canton Bern, to "Wimmis" First document I found is from 1599. The BILLETs later (around the year 1700) settled from Wimmis to the german River Rhein-valley to the places: "Lahr", "Oberkirch", "Offenburg" and "Karlsruhe" in south western Germany parallel to the french borderline. Along old german church-documents our name sometimes varies a little bit to "BILET; BILLETT, BIELET, BIHLET, BELLET, BILLOT" but it seems the true old form must be BILLET. Starting in 1851 five BILLET men (some with their hole families) settled out to USA. But I have no informations where they went there! Only one I know that he went to Baltimore. I would like to get in contact with researchers or US-BILLET-families or other people who believe that they are offsets from a german, swiss or alsatian BILLET-branch to share our BILLET-familytrees. Contacts wanted aross the mailinglist or directly to my e-mail adress: KlausW.Billet@t-online.de Best reetings from Karlsruhe / Germany Klaus W. Billet
