Fellow Listers -- If you have not done so already, I would like to invite you to post your surnames to the list so that they can be added to the HWE Surnames List on our website (http://www.island.net/~andreav/index.html). You will find the Surnames List in the Beyond the Basics section. These surnames *do not* have to be proven to be Huguenot/Walloon in origin in order to be added. The only pre-requisite is that you must be a subscriber to HWE list. Since we have had about 35 new subscribers in the last month, I thought some of the newcomers might like to send in their names. And, of course, all you "oldies" who may have been lurking for a while are invited to join in too <g>. Since our website is now included on several search engines as well as on Cyndi's List and also on John Fuller's site (Genealogy Resources on the Internet), this is a great opportunity to get your surnames out there for people to find and, hopefully, lead to new information for you. If you would like some surnames added, I ask you to submit them in the following manner -- 1) post your request to the list (not to me privately) 2) arrange your surnames and details about them (dates, locations) in the format you see for those surnames which are already on the HWE Surnames List, ie. -- SURNAME: date, location > date, location, etc. 3) have a subject line which indicates you are making a request to add surnames to the Surnames List 4) *please do not* include this post of mine at the end of your own request post. Delete it before sending in your request. And while you are sending in surnames -- and if you have not done so already -- please consider adding them to another Surnames List which has been set up by the Australian Family Tree Connections magazine. You will find information about this Surnames List on the website -- it's also in the Beyond the Basics section under the title Alternate Surnames Lists. However, please note that the requirement for adding names to the AFTC Surnames List is that you must be personally convinced, or have proof, that the names you are submitting have Huguenot origins. I hope to see a good response to this post. The number of subscribers on HWE keeps climbing steadily but the number of posts stays about the same. In other words -- c'mon all you shy ones out there, let's hear from you!! Andrea
