I am searching for the origins of the POCKAT / POKAT / PAUCHERT / etc. name. The following information is available: Ernst POCKAT (b. 3 May 1826 unknown location; d. 7 Oct 1892 WI, USA)married Wilhelmine/a FRITZ (b.2 Nov. 1826 Selchow, Prussia; d.26 Jan 1826 WI, USA) reportedly in Selchow, Greifenhagen, Pommern, Prussia in January 1849. They had two children in Prussia: Friedrick (William) POCKAT (5 Dec 1849) and August POCKAT (16 Sept 1852). Either on their way to America in 1854/1855, or before, or at arrival they had my gg grandfather, Julius POCKAT (b.17 Oct 1854/55; d. 30 Jan 1935, WI USA). Several other children were born in Wisconsin after their arrival: Ferdinand, John, Emil, William, Mary, Amelia, Frank and perhaps a couple more.
