    3. Dr. Edward MacLysaght in his book "Surnames of Ireland" says: JOYNT, a Huguenot name (Fr. le joint) slim, graceful. Formerly well-known in both Cos. Limerick and Mayo. Family lore also says we are of Huguenot origin, descended from William Joynt, Sheriff of Limerick c. 1659. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cmlabath/joynt7.htm I have not yet found proof of my Joynt/Joint family being of Huguenot origin; however, in the pursuit of proof I have accumulated various documents and I have transcribed the following: The Irish Pensioners of William III's Huguenot Regiments, 1702. >From Huguenot Society of London Proceedings, Vol. 6, No. 3, Nov. 1899 1.
