Hi all, At 03:37 PM 2/2/01 -0500, The Curran's wrote: >Pierre Noue sailed on the ship "De Bonte Koe," 16 April 1663 with his wife >Marguerite Dumont, a child and his sister. snip >Ref: > Holland Soc. The "passenger list" referred to above also says that "Pierre Niu" is from "Walslant". That would be "Walloon Land." So, I would assume this would be the area that is now NE France and maybe part of Belgium. On the same ship were several other families from Walslant, Flanders, and Picardy. I believe the ship sailed from Amsterdam. A good place to start might be the Walloon Index, which I think has been discussed here before. It is available on microfilm from the LDS. A book which provides a good "how to" guide for researching the ancestors of people like this is _New Netherland Roots_ by Gwenn Epperson. It is widely available from the usual genealogical book sellers. Regards, Howard hswain@ix.netcom.com
