    1. [HWE] SURNAMES
    2. Hello Everyone, To start the new year I am posting my surname. I am looking for my Huguenot ancestor Laux JENTER, born circa 1580 in France, escaped into Germany and settled into Heselwangen, Germany, where he died 8 Apr 1665. This is now part of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Laux's son was Laux Richter JENTER, he was born in 1633, I am not sure where, possibly France, possibly Germany. His son was Laux JENTER who was born 17 Oct 1654, in Heselwangen and died there 26 Sep 1727. I have church records from this Laux JENTER born in Heselwangen 17 Oct 1654 all the way to myself. I am at the moment trying to connect the JENTER's found in the IGI from the United Kingdom. Since we know that all the USA and Canada JENTER's descend from Laux born 1580, there are about 300 of us, and it looks more and more like all the Germany JENTER's can all trace their ancestry to this Laux, I feel almost certain that the early UK JENTER's were also Huguenots, and probably related to us also. Recently I have discovered that the name JENTER could have been JENDER, JENDRE, GENDER and GENDRE. There is a possibility that JENTER's may have come from Herbsheim, Alsace Lorraine, France. Herbsheim is about 50 miles from Heselwangen Germany. Over the years both Germany and France have claim the Alsace Lorraine area. I would be most appreciative to hear from anyone with information on JENTER, JENDER, JENDRE, GENDER or GENDRE. Thank you. Karen JENTER Michigan USA
