Hello, Might anyone here have this variant of Hoyt spelled HAIT or HAITE from the areas of Orange Co. NY to Michigan and Minnesota and to Michigan in the 1830s-1880s? Father: Thadeus F. HAIT Mother: Eliza COSMAN Children: Margaret Jane HAITE b. 1830 Lattintown NY John William HAITE b. 1832 Newburgh NY Jacob HAITE b. 1833 NY Mary M. HAITE b. 1846 Michigan Michigan Counties include: Eaton, Manistee Minnesota County: Kenyon in Goodhue Co. Margaret Jane HAITE m. James SOMERVILLE 1851 in Calhoun Co., MI. He was a traveling minister of the Methodist faith. James also served in the 6th Michigan Calvary 1862-1865 (Custer's Brigade). The settled in Manistee, Michigan, where James died in 1883, Margaret in 1915. Both are buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Manistee, Michigan.
