I am searching for information on Clara Hoyt born May 24, 1846 in Vienna, Kennebec Co., Maine. According to some copies sent to me from the Cokato, Wright Co., museum (from a book about the history of the Mississippi Valley), she was the adopted daughter of Josiah Prescott Mooers and his wife Rachel. In the 1860 census of Middleville, MN, she was 12 years old, living with the Mooers, and going by the name of Hoyt - not Mooers. I have found quite a bit of information on the internet about the Mooers, but I would like to find out who her natural parents were. Because she was going by the name of Hoyt at 12 years old, could it be that she was an older child when she was adopted? Prescott was the maiden name of Josiah's mother, there were quite a few Prescotts, Mooers, and Hoyts in Kennebec Co., Maine in the 1800's. I am also wondering if perhaps the Mooers were related to the Hoyts in some way and that is why Clara ended up living with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Karen Chambers appreciated, =20 Karen Chambers
