Sophona (Sophrony) Hoyt married James M. Barnes (1812?-1885) who was born in Barnard, VT, son of Elijah Barnes, Jr. James and Sophona Barnes lived in Topsham, VT; on Stony Brook in Stockbridge, VT; Barnard, VT; and Pomfret, VT. Children: Lucian, Ella, Harvey, George, Emmogene, Anna, Herbert, Nora. There is a similarity between this family and the Daniel/Elsey Hoyt family of Windsor Co., VT, that was posted to this list sometime back. The latter family moved to West Bloomfield, Ontario Co., NY, by 1814, while at least one member of the former family was born in the same place (about 1810-1815), even though the former family had been associated with Barnard, VT, since the late 1700s.
