Don't know if there is any connection to Goerge Natham Hoyt, but at one point, my Hoyt's were also in Illinois. Here's the info in case you recognize any names: Moses Hoyt b. 1 Mar 1805 Washington, Orange Co., Vermont d. aft 1880 in Iowa. His wife was Elizabeth Flanders b. 1808 in NH d. Illinois. In 1850, Moses was living in Corinth, Orange Co, Vermont. In 1860 Moses was living in Plainfield, Will Co., Iowa. He was living with A.J. Hubbard and family. His relationship is listed as "boarder or prisoner" and notes that he had an injured shoulder. Since his wife Elizabeth is not listed here, it is assumed she died in Illinois (or possibly died here prior to the 1860 census. Moses & Elizabeth had the following children: 1. Moses Hoit b. 25 Oct 1826 Washington, Orange Co., VT m. 1. Harriett Newell Bronson/Brownson; m.2. Minerva G. Foote m. 3. Almira Mangum. Between his first and second wives, he also had a relationship with Hannah A. Harmon, the widow of John Harmon. My grandmother descends from this relationship. 2. Sarah Marie Hoit b. Feb 1834 VT m. James Henry Hoagland 3. Mary A. Hoit b. abt 1842 VT m. Albert S. Cables (brother of Steven Cables below) 4. John H. Hoit b. abt 1845 m. Steven A. Cables (brother of Albert Cables above) 5. Ann Elizabeth Hoit b. 2 Nov 1849 Moses Hoyt (Sr.) was the son of Peter Glidden Hoit b. 6 Jan 1778 Fremont, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire m. Sarah Betchelder. I have additional info on the Hoyt line and the Betchelder lines going back to the 1500's -- if you see anything that might connect, let me know. I also have info on descendants of the children of Moses Hoit & Elizabeth.
