Just a quick note...The Arms were granted to an individual person, and not passed down from one generation to the next... Although it should be remembered for those to come just to let them know some of their roots... I am descended from John Hoyt of Salisbury and Amesbury, Ma....believed to be the first Hoyt in America... I question the origin of the name myself...But there is and Island of the coast of Scotland by the name of "Hoy"... It has been passed down in my Family that we were Scotch and English... If the Coat of Arms has a disclaimer at the bottom, then chances are it is not verified...And not that old.....It is a good challenge as a Genealogist to find the link to our past !!...
