My great grandfather, born Ralph Emerson Hoyt 5-9-1882 in Sister Bay, Wisconsin (brother to Lorne Hoyt) was adopted somewhere in the late 1880's when he and his brother were put in the Coldwater School for Boys in Coldwater Michigan by their father, Colonel Jonathan E. Hoyt after his wife ? unnamed died on a trip to Chicago. Ralph Emerson was adopted by Harriet and Manley Amsden of Albion Michigan. Lorne ran away from the school or boys. Ralph later married Emma Crump and then died in San Antonio, Texas sometime in the 1960's. Can someone please help me locate my heritage? My adopted family, the Amsdens, I have traced back to the 1500's in England... but my true lineage is still a mystery.
