    1. Clara Hoyt
    2. Karen M Chambers
    3. I am searching for information on Clara Hoyt born May 24, 1846 in Vienna, Kennebec Co., Maine. According to some copies sent to me from the Cokato, Wright Co., museum (from a book about the history of the Mississippi Valley), she was the adopted daughter of Josiah Prescott Mooers and his wife Rachel. In the 1860 census of Middleville, MN, she was 12 years old, living with the Mooers, and going by the name of Hoyt - not Mooers. I have found quite a bit of information on the internet about the Mooers, but I would like to find out who her natural parents were. Because she was going by the name of Hoyt at 12 years old, could it be that she was an older child when she was adopted? Prescott was the maiden name of Josiah's mother, there were quite a few Prescotts, Mooers, and Hoyts in Kennebec Co., Maine in the 1800's. I am also wondering if perhaps the Mooers were related to the Hoyts in some way and that is why Clara ended up living with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Karen Chambers appreciated, =20 Karen Chambers

    1. Benjamin Hoyts Parents
    2. Jackie Whedbee
    3. I am still seeking information on the Parents of Benjamin Hoyt who was born 18 March 1806 in maine and died 10 Feb 1884 in Dallas Co. Iowa and m. 1 Apr 1832 to - Abigail Emmons born 5 Jun 1810 Searsport, Waldo Co. ME d 20 Aug 1901 Dallas Co. Iowa and whos children included my Great Grandfather Alden George Hoyt b 15 Jun 1853 Mountville, ME and d 9 Nov 1945 Red Bluff CA (although he spent a time in Oregon) - ---------------------------------------------------------- Back to Benjamin's Parents - It has been sugested (I have lost the e-mail apparently from a person that can explain the following, far better than I) That Benjamin's parents names were probably - Thomas Hoyt and Adra ? Due to the fact that they followed the naming traditions of the time. And (I don't recall the order) but Abigails parents names were John Emmons and Lucy Huff and in the Exact position where you name the (second son maybe?) the mothers Fathers name . . . JOHN appears and where the mothers, mother is suppose to go LUCY appears . . . so . . . they appearantly were folloing the "Nameing Rules" So . . .where the fathers father goes . . .is the name "Thomas Hoyt" and where the fathers mother goes "Adra "A" Hoyt" is found . . . So . . . we are now looking for a Thomas Hoyt, married to Adra ? whos children include a Benjamin of the right time frame . . . in Maine . . . - ---------------------------------------------------------- Sound familiar to anyone? 1. Byron Abner Hoyt - Michigan 1870's
    2. Hi all, Looking for some help on my line that begins and ends with the above listed gentleman. I have looked in every source I could get my hands on including the Hoyt Book and my Byron Abner Hoyt does not exist. Here's what I have: Byron Abner Hoyt b - ? d - ? Wife: Ida Mariah Cook b - ? d - ? Newark, AR. Married: 07 May 1871, Riverton Township, MI. (Mason Co.) (Byron claims to be 22 and Ida 14 y/o.) Children: 1. Frank C. Hoyt b - 1872 Ludington, MI (Mason Co.), d - approx 1919 Newark, AR (Independence Co.) 2. Walter William Hoyt b - 04 Aug 1876 Ludington, MI (Mason Co.), d - 13 Oct 1950 St. Louis, MO. (lived in Wheaton, MO.) (My great grandfather) Byron Abner's first appearance comes with the Marriage Certificate in 1871. I can find no listing of him prior to 1871. I could not find him in the 1870 Census for surrounding areas either, much less any parental/birth information. (there is an Abner Z. Hoyt 2 houses down (1870 census) from Cooks (Ida's Family) and Ida and Byron appear as witnesses in late 1871 for Abner Z.'s second marriage but have been unable to make any concrete connect to either of them. (Abner Z. is 14 yrs Byron's senior) Around 1879/1880, Ida (Cook) Hoyt moved to Big Bottom Twsp, Independence Cty, AR with her two sons and appears in the 1880 (AR) Census as "widowed" (Hoyt family lore claims otherwise - long story). Once again, I can find no record of death around 1878 - 1880 in Michigan; Byron just seemed to disappear. I'm not sure what drew Ida Hoyt to move to Arkansas around 1880 but she did. Ida later married a Henry Galloway sometime after 1880. Any info on either Byron A. Hoyt (especially), Frank C. Hoyt, or Ida Cook would be helpful. Thanks gahoyt@aol.com

    2. Dear Terri Rene DaVar-Howard, Reference your posting today to the HOYT Message Board. The people you are looking for are found in a book entitled "A Genealogical History of The Hoyt, Haight, and Hight Families". It was written in 1871 by David W. Hoyt, and is about 700 pages long. Your Thomas Haight is number #2838 on page #350. He is the son of David and Phebe Haight, who had five children (David, Samuel, THOMAS, Nicholas and Hannah). Thomas is a fifth generation descendant from Simon Hoyt. Simon came to the New World in 1629, and is the progenitor for all of us Hoyts. Simon died on Sept 1 1657 in Stamford CT. Hope you find this helpful. Sincerely, George Hoyt E-Mail: GWGEHoyt@aol.com

    1. our genealogical database on-line
    2. Brian & Terri Rene (DaVar) Howard
    3. Hello, My name is Terri Rene DaVar-Howard and my homepage (shared with my husband Brian, enough about him! <g>) is located at <http://www.macatawa.org/~brianter/index.html>. We have been "collecting" our joint genealogies for about 4 or 5 years now. In the process we have found wonderful data about not only our own family but also some which may or may not be connected to our ancestors. Others have been kind enough to share their research and gedcoms with us, so we have a database of about 15000 individuals. We were fortunate to be able to place our database onto Pam Carey-Durp's Genealogy Search Engine <http://w3.one.net/~durp/database/Darland/Darland-surname.htm> but there are some errors which need to be corrected. I am in the process of ATTEMPTING to identify those errors and make the necessary changes. Recipients of this letter are welcome to search the current on-line database to see if we have surnames (ancestors even?) in common. If we do, then you are welcome to send me a gedcom about those common surnames / families for incorporation into my database. I use Family Tree Maker, which has a curious function: your name will become the source for all data coming from your gedcom. You are also welcome to point-out any errors you find in the database, so that I might make the necessary changes. Also, if you find information for which you believe * you * are the source, please DO let me know (I have not always been good about documenting my sources, something I'm trying to remedy). With some luck, some hard work, some consideration from bubba-da-barbarian (aged 2) & The Mashugana (age 8), etc. .... I hope to be able to place a new gedcom at <http://w3.one.net/~durp/search.htm> by the end of May. Did I mention that Tulip Time is in May and Michael a.k.a. The Mashugana is marching in several parades? Well, the TARGET is the end of May 1999. If you have surnames / families in common with ours and would like your information incorporated into our gedcom to assist others in locating you, we'd be glad to "merge" data. Happy Hunting, Terri Rene DaVar-Howard Holland, Michigan My apologies if you received more than one copy of this letter <s>.

    1. William Haight
    2. Jim Haight
    3. Hello, Looking for information on William Haight, b. abt 1785 in Dutchess Co. NY. I believe that he may have moved to Washington Co. prior to 1809, where he married a Sylvia. Washington Co. is where my 6th g. grand father was born in 1809. I also believe that William and Sylvia had at least one other son by the name of Joseph A. Haight, b. abt 1824. Any information would be appreciated. __________________________________ Jim Haight Haight Genealogy Web Site http://okemos-woodworks.com/haight __________________________________ Thought for the day: Alright!
