I like to help people with Howes-related problems if I can. It may just be co-incidence but there was a Rosemary N Howes born to a mother named Beck in Windsor RD in 1917. Perhaps another co-incidence, but a Hilda M Howes was also born to a mother named Beck in Wayland RD in 1911. There is a marriage of a Charles Howes to a Violet Beck in Norwich at about that time, but not until 1914. So I doubt Hilda was theirs and given the Windsor connection you mention I doubt Rosemary was too. I think you'd have to obtain the birth certificate for Rosemary and Hilda to be sure they are children of James and Violet, but the chances look good to me, though I do not understand the Beck connection, yet. Does it mean anything to you? Also I don't suppose the girls' initials tie up with the information you have on their subsequent lives, do they? Hope this helps.
