Hi Sammie & all, The HOWERY family is my wife's line and I have researched this family, along with many others, for 30 years and have found it to be one of my most frustrating families to research. My wife's maiden name was HOOVER and she is a member of several of the Warren County, Iowa families that you are researching, Sammie. I will give you the HOWERY family as I have found it and certainly would welcome any suggestions and/or corrections. Samuel HOWERY and Mary SIFFORD were married 17 Aug 1792 in Botetourt County, Virginia and had the following children. 1. Unknown child born Cir 1793. 2. Unknown child born Cir 1795. 3. Unknown child born Cir 1797. 4. Joseph M. born 26 Nov 1799 Virginia and was married to Lodema KINSLEY/KINGSLEY in Shelby County, Indiana 2 Oct 1828. He died 26 Nov 1885 at Spring Creek, Blackhawk County, Iowa. 5. John born Cir 1801. 6. James born 26 Mar 1808 Ohio and was married to Louisa KINSLEY/KINGSLEY in Shelby County, Indiana 11 Dec 1828. He died in Berlin, Gentry County, Missouri 26 Apr 1895. 7. Jacob born Cir 1810 Butler County, Ohio and was married to Sarah "Sally" Elvira THOMAS in Shelby County, Indiana 29 Jun 1836. He died 9 December 1885. Samuel was married second to Maria ROSEBOOM in Butler County, Ohio 17 Jul 1811. Their children were: 8. William born Cir 1812 Ohio and married Catherine COLCLAZIER in Shelby County, Indiana 24 Dec 1835. He died Cir 1847. 9. Julia Ann born 30 Oct 1813 Ohio and was married to Ephraim HOOVER in Shelby County, Indiana 28 Feb 1833. She died in Warren County, Iowa 2 Mar 1891. 10. Isaac born 15 Apr 1814 Ohio and was married first to Catharine FOUST and second to Margaret KIRKPATRICK in Warren County, Iowa 19 Dec 1857. He died 3 Apr 1891 in Warren County, Iowa. 11. Phebe born 1818 Ohio 12. Daniel born 1823 Ohio married Ruth HUFFMAN in Shelby County, Indiana 21 Jan 1847. 13. David King born 11 Dec 1827 Shelby County, Indiana married first to Sarah L. ASHWORTH in Shelby County, Indiana 11 Mar 1847 and second to Elizabeth Ann COLCLAZIER in Warren County, Iowa 14 Oct 1859. He died 28 Feb 1924. (I have not confirmed this death date but, if correct, he lived to be a very old man.) I would like to comment on the theory that Samuel HOWERY was a son of Jacob HOWERY and Susannah WAX. Susannah WAX was married to Daniel HOWERY in Botetourt County, Virginia 25 November 1801. Daniel, who was born Cir 1778, was a younger brother of Samuel, who was born Cir 1770. As I stated earlier, I would welcome any corrections. Larry E. Warren
