Hello Howery family, Just when the Howery line lights up like the fourth of July I came done with the flu and after seven hard days am back at my computer and glad to see so much good information flowing. Let me introduce myself as I have only written a few times before and new family are now out there. My mother was a Howery and got me started on research. Most of my information came from her as she liked to walk through cemeteries writing down names and dates. I could never figure out why she did that. I now understand. I come from the Indiana line of : Jacob Howery (11 Feb 1814 - 9 Dec 1885) m: Sarah (Sally ) Elvira Thomas (20 Feb 1820 - 6 Dec 1885) ch: George W. Howery (1 Jan 1844 - 11 Apr 1926) m: Clarissa Cook (4 Dec 1853 - 2 Dec 1904) ch: Alonzo (Lon) W. Howery (14 Jul 1875 - 30 Oct 1961) m: Margaret (Maggie) B. Fox (28 Apr 1879 - 26 Feb 1947) Jacob and Sarah had 13 children and I have information on them if anybody needs it. Jacob was born in Ohio according to the 1850,60,70 Indiana Census. I believe he is a son of Samuel Howery and Maria Roseboom. The 1820 Indiana Census of Franklin County shows: Samuel Howery . 310001 40010 Thats (3) males under 10 and (4) females under 10 (1) male 10-15, (1) male 45+, (1) female 26-44 I am attempting to confirm all the children of Samuel Howery with both Mary Sifford and Maria Roseboom. In 1820 Samuel had (8) children at home. It appears he had at least (5) more after 1820. Some of the children from his first marriage were probably married before 1820. He was a very productive individual. I have proofs on William, Daniel, Jane, Phebe & partial on Jacob. If someone out there is tied to one of Samuels other children, please let us know your source of proof so I can add them to my confirmed list. I am trying to document all the Howerys that came to Indiana and where they went from here. I am thankful to see some information on John George Howery in Dearborn County as I do not have anything but an 1820 Census record on him. Keep the information coming especially documented proof which I so dearly overlooked in my early research and my constantly kicking myself about. If I have repeated information, I am sorry. I have not yet had time to read all of the Howery mail yet but wanted to join in. Ron Oberle Greenfield, Indiana roby39@aol.com
