Thanks for the encouragement. I won't give-up. It will just take digging deeper. There has to be a probate record or something somewhere that tells why the family was not together in 1850. I just need to figure out which county to start looking in, and that will probably be Pickens co. SC. or Buncombe co. NC. I'm just waiting for the new year to come around as all my wife's vacation days are pretty much used up. Then maybe I'll be able to make a trip and look around.
