I've been trying to crack the nut of James Howell's line for years. James was my 4th great-grandfather. He was married to Agnes CASON, and is listed in the 1850 and 1860 census records for Andrew Co., Missouri. These records give his birthplace as Tennessee. I recently found a website that gives a lineage for him back to Edward Howell, who settled Southampton, Long Island. When I explore that line, I find that there are several different versions of it, including one purported ancestor who is placed with at least three different sets of parents, depending on the submission I'm looking at. I believe that James and Agnes were married in Warren Co., Kentucky on October 11, 1814. The website that gives his lineage shows it as: James HOWELL and Agnes CASON Samuel HOWELL and P. BUTLER Timothy HOWELL and Rebecca JANNEY David HOWELL and Mary BAKER Hugh HOWELL Edmund HOWELL and ? SAYRE Edward HOWELL and Eleanor Henry HOWELL and Margaret HAWTEN Henry HOWELL William HOWELL and Anne EYRE The only records I've seen definitively are the census records for Andrew Co., MO. I welcome confirmations, corrections, insights, direction ... ANY input for this cyber-researcher back in Spokane, Washington! Thank you, Diane Midkiff [email protected]
