Colleen and cousins: I have noticed for some time the scrolled "f" such as appears in Colleen's message (which is why I included it here.) I know what is usually means in old documents: something follows on the next page, etc. Why is the "f" doubled? Probably because the ancient scribes did it that way. My point is this. How are you making it on a keyboard? I know computers are always being updated, but has it gone so far? Please, somebody, bring me up to date. Hi, If you hold down the Alt. key and type 0131, it will give you that letter F... Do you have a "Character Map"...? that is where all of the other symbols, that are not on the keyboard, are at... If you have Windows, it should be at: Start: Programs: Accessories: Systems Tools: Character Map... Put your cursor on a symbol and click and it will enlatge it for you, so you can see it... If you need more help, I'm glad to help... From what I have found the double f stands for ss - example my HESSERS- were spelled HEFFERS - the ff is for ss- Wilma Fleming Haynes wilmahaynes@direcway.com -----Original Message----- From: lewhowell@juno.com [mailto:lewhowell@juno.com] Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2003 10:11 PM To: HOWELL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [HOWELL] [Fwd: re: HOWELLS] Colleen and cousins: I have noticed for some time the scrolled "f" such as appears in Colleen's message (which is why I included it here.)
