Hi Will, When I first started looking into my husband's Howell roots I had seen a lot of your mail but since I got the nerve to ask questions you seem to have dropped out of sight.My husband is the grandson of Robert Daniel Roark,son of Peter Ruark(Roark) and Tabitha Howell.Robert was born in Cooksville,Tenn.in 1877.His father deserted the family and his mother died when he was 9.He was sent to Tx.and was raised by Tabitha's brother.Tabitha was the daughter of James Howell and Elizabeth Stone and James was the son of John Howell and Nancy Brewer.I have found all of Tabitha's siblings in White Co.census.However I haven't been able to place her mother Elizabeth Stone with a family.Would you happen to know anything about her.Although a lot of the siblings were married in White Co.I have found know record for Peter Ruark and Tabitha Howell or James Howell and Elizabeth Stone.Tabitha was in her parents house at the age of 14 in the 1870 census.Then in 1880 in Putnam Co.Tn.with Peter Ruark,age 55,blacksmith b.Ky..Tabitha age 23 b.Tn.Robert age 3,b.Tn.and Joanna age 11/12 b.Tn..I am not sure if this Peter was Ruark or Roark.In this census it is Ruark.I found Robert in Tx.1900 I think age 22 and his name is Roark.I have found Peter with both name in Ky.put can't find anything to say any of them is this one.A grandson always said that he returned to Ky. and met with less than honorable death.If you have any info on Elizabeth Stone I could sure use some help.I have the descendants of Tabitha if you are interested.I have also identified her brother William(Bill) Howell who lived an died in Allen Co.Ky..I have a copy from the book at the funeral home naming his parents as James Howell and Elizabeth Stone.It listed know children for Bill.Robert came to Allen Co.as a young man to live with the Howells that were there.That is where he met and married my husband's grandmother Matilda Elizabeth(May)Johnson.
