Hello, I'm researching William Howell Sr and Jr. of Virginia (in particular Montgomery and Grayson Co.) during the time of the Revolutionary War. I thought the following might be of interest to some of you. A William Howell is listed in the Records of the Revolutionary War by W. T. R. Saffell, Reprint of the Third Edition, page 256, under Col. Daniel Morgan's 11th and 15th Virginia Regiments, Incorporated, as they stood from May 31, 1777 to November 30, 1778. Rank-private, enlisted Mar. 19, 1777. Later, on page 269, William Howell, and also Vincent Howell, are listed under Col. Morgan's Companies of Rifleman, as they were incorporated and as they stood June 1, 1777. In Virginia Militia in the Revolutionary War, by J. T. McAllister, page 276, listed under people who served in Virginia but were pensioners outside Virginia in 1835, William Howell is given as being 86 years old and living in Athens Co. Ohio. This book is accessible online at RootsWeb. hope this helps someone, andy graham
