    3. Hi family, You're all way too quiet. ;-) What say we get some dialogue going here? One record, one small record is all it takes to sometimes open up someone's genealogy... just one. It can be a birth, a marriage, a death, a family group, or a cemetery interrment. That's your challenge... to post one record to the list. Can you do it? :) Colleen

    3. Just rec'd this recently from another Howell cousin of our William Howell and Margaret Ashbrook's Lineage of Washington Co., PA. This John Howel will be my 4th g-grandfather (William's father)!!! In the name of God Amen I John Howel of Washington County and State of Pennsylvania being such and weak in body but of sound mind memory judgement and understanding considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of time being desirous to settle my worldly affairs that I may be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall pleas God to call me hence I do therefore make and publish this my last Will and testament in the manner following I commit my soul into the hands of the Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my friends or Executors herein after named and after my debts and funeral charges are paid I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elener Howel that tract of land which we now live on with all the property belonging to me thereon and all the advantages ariseing therefrom and to be at her disposal as long as she lives and at her deceas said tract of land and all there unto belonging shall be sold and equally devided amongst the children or their heirs except my son Alexander to whome I give and bequeath all my interest and right to land of my son Daniel for services don by him in the United States army and was there killed and I being his heirs and the business unsettled I shal impower my son Alexr to settle the same and have the same for his own use and to be at his own disposal forever. Lastly I do hereby constitute apoint my dear wife Elener Howel and my son Alexr Howel and John Ruth to be my sole executors of this my last Will and testament revoking and anulling all former wills ratifying and confirming this my last Will and testament. In testimony whereof I have set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of November eighteen hundred and sixteen. his John H Howel (L. S.) mark Witness Present William Patterson, Thomas Ruth, John Byers Washington County ss: Be it remembered that on the 26th day of February A.D. 1825 before me Saml Cunningham Deputy Register for the probate of Wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for said County came William Patterson and Thomas Ruth two of the subscribing witnesses to the within last will and testament of John Howel decd who being sworn sayeth that they were present and did see the testator thereof make his mark to this Will and did hear him publish pronounce and declare the same as for his last Will and testament that at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief. William Patterson, Thomas Ruth And sworn to and subscribed before me Saml Cunningham, Dp. Regr. August 21st 1827 Letters Testamentary with the copy of the Will and probate annexed issued to Alexander Howel and John Ruth the surviving executors within named who on same day were duly sworn as also to observe the law relating to colatteral inheritance passed the 7th day of April 1826.     3. Here is my contribution for my ggg grandfather: Sylvanus Howell, born ca 1794, NY, married Harriet Conger, 03 Jun 1818, Morris, NJ. Children from 1850 census (Hanover Twp, Morris Co., NJ, page 148, dwelling 242): Hannah, age 21 Sarah E. Miller, age 23 William, age 16 Living with Sylvanus, his son Augustus and his family Augustus Howell, age 30, and wife Sarah M. Howell, age 18, daughter Frances V. Howell, age 1 month August was shot by accident 10 Aug 1856. Frances went to live with Miller cousins (Henry C. & Mary A. Miller).
