Again, I'm quoting from the book I mentioned yesterday, written by Richard Wallace, Robert Cameron and Carmen Finley: page 34 - "It's interesting to speculate that Timothy Howell was the father of one of the Abners we found in Loudon County. However, Timothy's 1794 will does not list Abner as an heir. The will refers to Samuel, Mahlon and Thomas. Incidentally this will has a Quaker style date (5th day of 2nd month 1794). Timothy and his wife Rebecca, have been found in Virginia Quaker records, but Abner was not found there." The citation for the will indicates it can be found in Loudon County VA Will Book E:22. The authors of this book looked at all the Howells in Loudon County in 1771, including Hugh Howell and his family. They then tried to match up the information into families. They found eight families or households bearing the Howell name, and the methods they used to attempt to sort them out are excellent examples of careful genealogical work. If you can find the book in your area, it may be worth studying.
