    3. Thanks to all you Howell "cousins"..for some very good information.. My William Howell was born in Buncombe Co., NC 1844.. His father is supposed to be John William Howell ( I take this with a grain of salt).. Young William is found joining the Union Army in Greene Co, TN in Feb. 1865.. the lateness may be due to his being a captured Confederate soldier.. better than a POW camp!!!.. He then marries a Morgan girl from Jefferson Co., TN in 1866.. and lives the rest of his life in TN.. He named one of his sons.. Andrew Mack Howell, this is my g grandfather.. Andy Mack used to go trapping somewhere in the mountains not far from Marion, NC.(but they lived in TN). and he used a cabin in the mountains that apparently belonged to someone who was kin.. They apparently stayed a good part of the winter.. and they sold the furs.. some of them being "Mink" ,to a man who came down from New York to buy furs from folks in that part of the mountains.. My mother used to go with her grandparents and stayed with them while they trapped and made cane bottom chai! rs.. Andrew Mack Howell's father is the William Howell b 1844 in Buncombe Co., NC. that I seek..Thanks... All help appreciated Jackie Researching the families of: Morgan, Brewer, Howell, Ballard, Beck, Ricker, Knight, Woods, Simmons and Buffington ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew J.
